Intermittent groaning/moaning noise Posted by MJM [Email] (#872) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MJM) on Sun, 3 Aug 2003 21:21:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a '95 SETC with 71,000 miles that has just begun exhibiting an intermittent groaning/moaning noise during normal driving (e.g., cruising at speed on level road). I performed a search on this board and read about individuals with a similar noise yet theirs was at idle or occurred when they had the a/c engaged. Note that my noise does *not* occur at idle and happens even when the climate control is turned off. I am assuming, therefore, that it is unrelated to the a/c compressor. Admittedly, the noise does sound like the noise the a/c compressor makes in my '89 SPG on occasion but, again, in this case the a/c is not engaged.
The noise will sometimes last for a brief second while being present for 4 - 5 seconds on other occasions. Again, it only manifests itself when I am cruising at speed (does not seem to be related to turbo boost).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike
