Well, the only way you're gonna solve this mystery is to take the door panel off and check the wiring to the window regulator (aka the motor that makes the window go up/down). It's probably just a loose power or ground wire, thus the intermittant operation.
To remove the door panel you'll find screws behind the interior door pull (pry it off) and the interior door handle (take out the circular plug and remove the screw). Then there are a couple of screws at the bottom and maybe a plastic plug on the side. After the screws are all out and the panel is loose just work it out GENTLY so you don't screw up the window gasket at the top and lift it over the door lock. DON'T force anything, it will come out easily enough. Report back with your progress.
