Hello Dean,
Thanks for the response. The indy Saab mechanic who looked at it said that it goes from the canister to the brake booster. He said that he has seen this hose on very few NG900s.
The hose runs parallel to the "big aluminum pipe" on the right-hand side of the engine (looking in from the front). There is another hose of similar diameter just below it. Right about where the hose passes the middle of the engine block, it is spliced into a piece of plastic the mechanic said is a check valve.
When I find the charger for my digital camera, I will take a picture of it and post it for you to look at.
In the mean time, I have "borrowed" an image of someone else's car and drawn in a yellow line to show you where the hose is.
