There is one air con area I do have some experience with - Maybe the problem is with the little motor that opens and closes the flaps around the heater core to control the amount of hot air mixed into the flow. Maybe they are stuck open (full heat) or there is a problem with the motor and the linkage that opens and closes those flaps: the reduction gearbox behind the motor misaligned or motor burned out or wire connector left unconnected, etc.
If you take out the glove box and the console trim panel in the passenger's footwell, you will see the little round black stepping motor (2" diam?) peeking out above the audio amp (if you have the SE sound system). You may have to dismount that amp to see things better. Make sure the wires are connected (one connector with a couple of wires in it). If it is connected, change the heat from high to low and back a few times and see if you see the little lever (pointing to front of car from behind motor, joining a vertical link) going up and down. If it isn't moving, you've found the problem. In the case with mine, I temporarily manually moved it to the full closed (no heat) position and disconnected the wires. I live in L.A. and won't need the heat for a while. Its on my driveway DIY list for the fall.
BTW, to move the linkage by hand, you may need to slightly loosen the two screws that hold the motor onto the little gearbox to separate the motor's pinion gear from the gear wheel in the reduction gearbox.
