Left Headlight Assembly and Duct Tape

Thanks for your hints on the remote. I put in some bids at EBay.
I just noticed that my left headlight (not the assembly pointing straight ahead, the one faced to the left on the driver's side) is loose. Someone taped my left headlight to the car with duct tape to make it stay on. I think this may have happened when I had the car washed before I left town last month... perhaps it was already loose and they did it? I'm not 100% sure it was them... could have been when I was out of town and someone else was taking care of my car... so I don't want to confront them.
Anyway, two problems.
Most important: This assembly is loose. It seems like it snaps in, and yet then it keeps popping out again, sometimes after just a few miles, sometimes after more like 40 or 50 mixed highway/town miles. Am I just snapping it back wrong? Or is there a clamp or something that is now missing?
Also: the duct tape left a sticky residue on my car's finish -- obviously a bummer. How can I get this off? The car was waxed at the carwash... not a really good wax like you'd do yourself, but the touchless car wash kind of wax.
Thanks for your help. I'm a student with neither a large bank account nor much mechanical experience!
