i have a 97 saab 900 set in which i recently replaced the clutch. to do this, the subframe had to be removed and put back. when i finished the job i experienced the same problem, like something hitting metal to metal. it turns out that the transmission mount (which is adjustable) was one inch offset from its original location, which threw the alignment of the subframe off and let made the front left portion of the subframe strike a crossmember when accelerating or decelerating. i moved the mount back, tightened the frame, and put the car on the road. it handled alot better than before, and was more stable in hard acceleration (also got rid of an annoying rattle in the front end at 90 mph). the other thing you might want to check out is your CV's. then inspect different suspension pieces, ball joints, tie rods, etc. to make sure they are mounted correctly.
