Hmmm. Unfortunately, I have little experience with the DI so I can't answer too well. If you already ordered a new DI, I would install it and try it out, but save the old one. That is pretty simple and would allow you to rule in or out the D.I.
The ignition switch symptoms can be flaky; it may still be possible. My car only died once; I had warning lights several times before that. But what makes me hestiate on the ignition switch is that you said this usally happens at startup or standstill. The ignition switch can mean trouble starting or no starting, but other than that, failure while running should be pretty random--not necess. at a standstill.
Sorry but I'm really not sure.
