any references that you make to the search keyword MUST please be drs<underscore>anticipator

For T5 systems, which you all have.

A MBC has always been a cost effective way to increase power. But there are fuel cut issues created by the pressure overshoots that are inherent with ball-spring MBCs. And a basic install with the MBC pressurized from the turbo compressor hose barb has a boost drop at high RPMs. That is not the fault of the MBC. It is controlling the pressure that it sees, at the turbo. The engine and boost indicator see the pressure at the intake which is reduced by losses in the IC and pipes etc.

I proposed a solution. An air pressure regulator is installed in parallel to the MBC. This is adjusted to apply a regulated pressure to the waste gate actuator (WGA) in anticipation of the MBC opening. This allows the MBC to be able to open the WGA on time and eliminates fuel cuts. we have a first report that is very encouraging!

And once that is done, one should be able to then feed the MBC with pressure from the TB (above the throttle plate suggested), and boost will stay steady at high RPMs within the flow limitations of the turbo. The anticipator is still fed from the turbo compressor hose barb.

I had become hesitant to promote the use of a MBC becuase of the difficult issues that come with it that are hard to over come. But now that it seems that these can be dealt with cheaply and effectively, its time to have another look. If you have a MBC installed, you will want to try this out.
If you have the money for a modified ECU, or have one installed. I think that this is an ideal solution for power. And you can install a MBC as a SMBC and greatly reduce boost delay while leaving the BPC in control of peak boost.

So that is an intro. Search and read drs<underscore>anticipator on the 9-3BB and also on the performance BB for an indepth discussion.

As always, it is important to reduce intake and exhaust pressure drops when increasing boost pressures. A Sports exhaust is strongly recommended to keep temperatures down. A K&N 33-2663 drop in works well. Also do the 3" duct mode. The turbo compressor discharge silencer needs to be removed and the small end of the throttle body transition casting (TBTC) needs to be ground out to flow match to the ID of the hard pipe that it couples too. Don't increase the boost on an engine that is not in good mechanical condition. Your choice of oil and mantenance practices become vital issues.
