Creaking suspension - the real cause...

OK - went under the car tonite to change the oil, and figured that I'd lube the heck out of all the bushings to get rid of the annoying creak. Much to my amazement, I found the real source of the problem. And I think it may be the source of some other things I was seeing...
The driver's side stanchion arm bushing separated from the arm itself. The arm is rubbing against the lower subframe, and every time the suspension move it rubs and makes interesting noises. Not to mention the wearing of the aluminum bar where it hits the mounting area. Sooooooo - I ordered a new arm from eEuroparts, and also a new bushing for the other side to replace when I get a chance. Told my son to park his Saab and take my Aztek for a couple of days till I could get this fixed. Of course, he's going thru "ugly car" withdrawls... :-)
What I'm trying to figure out - how did the bushing slide out of the arm? It looks pretty straight forward to replace the arm itself (bolts to the subframe, control arm, and stabilizer bar) - but it's a bit scary as to how it happened at all. All other bushings are fine. This could also explain my odd vibrations at highway speed, too!
wierd...
