The clicking sound is coming from your starter. When your battery doesn't have enough amps to turn over the starter, it clicks.
Yes, this is normal for a dying battery to do this. You might have had just enough charge to get your car started last time, and while the car was running, your alternator was supplying juice to make the car work but your battery was still dying.
You should be able to jump start it to get it to your local battery store.
Time to replace it. I recommend an Optima Red Top... The spiral gel cells tend to last longer and are less sensitive to heat.
Always check your water level in your battery (including 'maintenance free' ones) and top off with distilled water. Optimas (spiral cells) are sealed and do not need additional water.
