OK, anyone experienced this?
The car's alarm has begun going off randomly. Disconnecting/reconnecting the battery will reset it temporarily, but only temporarily. The alarm will go off while the car is parked and turned off, or even while driving.
The fob makes no difference, as far as I can tell. The alarm will not be enabled, but will still freak out and start honking and blinking the lights, even while driving. This is very disconcerting!
Unfortunately, repeated battery disconnects have also caused the radio to fail (stuck on ----, with no response to attempts to enter code, just displays the dashes). Any idea how to reset this?
I began by pulling individual fuses, but it took pulling the #6 Maxi fuse to get the alarm to stop going off.
Of course, I now have no central locking, radio, clock, dome light...
any insights? Where is the alarm computer? can I just disconnect the damn thing, or will that disable the car?
The car did make a trip thru hurricane weather, my wife sez she drove through some 'deep puddles', which makes me suspect water in the system somewhere, but I don't have the foggiest as to where to begin to look.
The symptoms occurred 2-3 days after the big wet.
Thanks for any tips-
-Quill
