My 900 is very sensitive to tyre pressures. If I have a difference of 2psi between left and right front tyre, the steering feels horrible. I keep mine at 31 all round (Michelins) and this seems to work well.
I still get a degree of high frequency vibration from certain road surfaces. This has been the case in every 900 and 9-3 I've driven. As you say, the tyre pressures add to the problem if they're not right.
