Spraying down engine compartment

I'm about to pick up my first SAAB (a '97 SET-auto) and one of the things I like doing to my previous cars was spraying down the engine compartment with a powerwasher. This has worked fine in my previous car (I leave the car running and don't turn it off until everything is dry). Will there be any problems if I do this to the Saab engine? I've read all about so many quirks these cars have and didn't know if I could really screw something up by spraying down the engine. Thx!!!
