Fuel Injector problems, maybe mechanic probs too ?!?! Posted by Nicholas [Email] ![]() ![]() |
My 1997 900SE Turbo is back in the shop because it won't start. I replaced the spark plugs (ngk etc right ones), di cassette (had a known good spare) and fuel pump. Car had plenty of fuel pressure (took off sender line and tested), still didn't start. I got frustrated and took it to a SAAB indy called Precision Auto Engineering in Portsmouth NH 2 weeks ago. They tell me the fuel injectors are bad. I say great, I'll bring down another set as I had a spare fuel rail/ throttle body assembly in the garage. They now are telling me those are bad too. I now say they are full of __it . 8 bad fuel injectors? Both came out of running cars 4 months ago, both had a good treatment of chevron techron concentrate before they were removed. I've talked to other SAAB techs who say fuel injectors don't fail often, if at all. In fact, one I talked to said he just bought one (at 120$ a piece!) and the parts guy was shocked because he had never seen one go out before. I searched the board and there is no mention of failing. I really feel like I'm being fleeced here, but at the same time I can't begin to guess what else is wrong. It sort of adds up too, becuase I know fuel is getting to the rail via the sender line, but no combustion. Should I speak up and express my doubts? Anyone have any bright ideasI just can't believe all 8 would be bad. Any advice is much appreciated!
Thanks,
Nick
