1994 Saab 900S - PCM Problem?

I have a 1994 900S which has an intermittent problem. Every couple of days, it just won't start. The engine turns over when I crank it, but it won't start. If I wait a while (10 minutes, 20 minutes, it depends), it will then start just fine.
I have had it to the Saab dealer who diagnosed a problem with the high tension wires, so I changed those. That solved the problem for a while, but not for long. A few weeks later the dealer felt that the fuel pump was causing the problem so this was changed as well. One week later, back at the dealer with the same problem, they decided that the crank sensor was faulty and so that was changed as well. Two months later the problem is still reoccurring.
So this time the dealer has held on to my car for two weeks and has been looking at the car with great frequency. They have checked every single sensor that is part of the start circuit to determine if there is a faulty sensor anywhere that might be sending faulty information back to the PCM (which I would call the central monitoring computer) and thus preventing the car to start. They have concluded that all sensors are working just fine and that the problem can only be the PCM itself which is Oh so expensive.
My two questions:
1/ Does anyone have ideas on what this problem might be so that I can check out some alternatives prior to spending over $1000 on the part?
2/ Does anyone know of a reliable source for the part that sells at discounted prices?
Thanks,
....Steve N.
