97 model onwards (including 9-3) have bigger brakes all round with larger discs and pads. This improved the feel and fade resistance. This means that you have to be extra careful if buying non Saab parts to ensure they are the correct size. My rear pads are still a Vectra fit as well as Saab. May have been an upgrade over the GM range at that time.
