I want to integrate XM to my existing audio & SID...

I really like the idea of XM satellite radio, and my friend who has it in his G35 reports good things.
I've looked on their web site but don't like the idea of a cassette adaptor and/or an extra display screen for the XM receiver display. Our cars already have a built-in display for radio info, in the SID.
That leads to the questions: Do any of you know where to get information specific to the Radio (head unnit) or SID, and how they communicate? I'd love to be able to press the BAND button and have FM1, FM2, AM, and XM. How could I "tap in" to the head unit and its communication to the SID with an XM receiver, and control XM through my SAAB head unit while displaying the XM info on the SID like a normal radio station.
Any ideas? Does Saab publish info for radio/SID repairs that would be helpful?
Thanks!
