To replace or not to replace headgasket?

Hi guys,
Well, I continue to lose coolant after my last ordeal with the loss of my serpentine belt...I've included a link to the previous post. The coolant loss is substantial, requiring topping up once every two days. Now, I've already ordered all the parts required to replace the headgasket, including seals, timing belt, tensioner, guides, etc. (plus that for the balance chain components). While I don't notice much smoke from the exhaust, or other telltale signs of a blown headgasket, I didn't want to take a chance.
However, after a 45 minute highway drive last week (which will be the last until the car is repaired), I popped the hood and found the coolant boiling in the resevoir. Today, I took it for a short drive on the highway and noticed the following:
1. temp needle remained at the lower end of the guage, never reaching 9 o'clock
2. Popped the hood, and felt the hose going the radiator to the right side of the engine - pressure was extremely high.
3. Slowly unscrewed the coolant resevoir cap - lots of pressue released, coolant rising rapidly, and found the coolant to be cool, not hot as I would have expected.
I am still leaning towards replacing the head gasket, having already ordered the parts, but was wondering if these symptoms are a surprise to anyone? Maybe a water pump issue? Don't know...
Looking forward to your replies..
Thx!
