I've replaced the front shocks myself and when you do this you also need to take out the springs. It can be done but take a day or two to do it. It can be very tricky for your first time and you don't want to have to rush the job. When I first did this I ended up installing the one side of the unit incorrectly two or three times but by the time I was done I could take out one side tear it down and reinstall it in about 30 minutes to an hour once I knew what I was doing. The other side took me about 3-4 hours.
In terms of shocks your better off getting the Koni shocks at the moment and if you tight on money I can sell you them at a break $275 which is only $25 higher then my cost which paypal will take $20.
A rumor once heard from an Abbott source was that the Abbott springs were the Eibach springs painted. I'm not sure if this is true or not but just spreading the rumor. Eibach no longer sell springs for our cars so you might want to do a search on the performance board as who has the best suited ride quality for your style of driving.
