A long one here. Hope you guys with the experience can bear with me.
96 900s 2L no Turbo. 138000miles
1. I had an LPG conversion put on about 3000 miles ago when I bought the car (from a friend so I know its history).Ever since, engine misfires on gas only at about 2100-3000 revs.Taken it back to place where it was converted.Changed a sender unit which local Bosch centre said was running too cold, which appeared to cure the problem. When the computer was linked up and driving around nothing untoward showed up. Sods law, a few hours later it came back.Any suggestions?
2. 3000miles after the conversion (2 days ago)the check engine light came on. Took it to the local Saab dealer who plugged in computer. Warnings were for air intake but all checked and appeared OK. Light came on again quarter mile down the road.I was told another person had an LPG conversion on what is probably a much newer car and that person also as probs with the check engine light. Anyone out there had similar probs?
3.Haynes manual say I can check the check engine light by putting wire into hole 6 on the computer plug and earthing it. It apparently will then flash the code for the error. Will it also clear the light? Saab dealer said this was a dodgy thing to do as it can burn out the ECU. Is this true or a scare tactic to get me back again?
Any suggestions for the above would be very welcome, failing succesful remedy, will put a small piece of black tape over the warning light to block it out because it is annoying when driving at night.
4. On a totally unrelated point, the volume control on the SAAB fitted hifi doesn't always work and it just spins round and round with no effect.I presume a dirty contact. Can I clean it any way without damaging the unit? I've heard of contact cleaner spray but never used it.
Thanks to all.
