If it leaks...can you switch back?

I'm a new owner of a used, low mileage saab, and have been reading TONS of old and new posts about this subject. Thanks for starting this survey!
my question is, what happens if I/we do switch, and it does leak? then what do you do? switch back? live with the leaks?
I had a mechanic pull the valve cover before I bought it. he reported a very clean engine with no sludge. I'm hoping that I'll be ok if I switch...but it does seem like there's a lot of people with leaks on here.
