I got my saab this summer (first timer, too). Headlights both operated fine, but the were very poorly aligned. As I took off the back cover, I noticed the 3 point clips were not even attached, and both lamps were dangling in their sockets!! Well, I accidentally corrected one of them, but couldn't figure out how it snapped in place. Not reading the manual, I wanted to figure it out myself. Well, I ended up busting the tab that held the 3 point clip in place. I did get the other one corrected fine, but the first light can now not be secured in its housing. I used a paper binder to try and secure the bulb the best I could, but not quite perfect.
I guess I will look for a replacement housing at the junk yard next year .. a new replacement appears to be well over $150.
Good luck with your saab. i don't have advice on whether to do both bulbs at once.
