Left Gas Cap off for 50 miles and no CEL??

Thursday night we had to blow out of a posh spa/resort near Tecate, México on 5 minutes notice to escape a wildfire bearing down on it. Filled the tank in haste at a little burg a few miles up the road (on the CA side of the border) and inadvertently left the gas cap off. After 20 more miles on winding mountain roads, then a 30 mile blast up the freeway at 85mph, we found a motel and checked in for the night. The next morning, I noticed my gas cap still hanging from the bracket on the open fuel filler door. Lucky me.

After my CEL saga of 2000-2001 when the damn thing wouldn't stay off for the best part of 18 months until they resoldered some wiring at the ECU, I was kind of surprised I didn't see one during this episode. The CEL bulb works fine - I see it at startup.
