Yesterday's idler pulley failure adventure (long)

Yesterday when driving home from Seattle to Portland, Oregon, I made it as far as Tumwater when I got the "chime of death", <!>, battery, and (B!) lights illuminated. I promptly exited the freeway and stopped the car, feeling the lack of power steering as I turned the car.
Being an avid NG900 board reader, my guess before opening the hood was the idler pulley that I was too lazy to replace preventatively, even though I've owned this car for over 7 years and 110,000 miles. When I opened the hood, my hunch turned out to be correct. The idler pulley and belt were gone, having left only a melted plastic smell in their place.
Not wanting to drive very far with no water pump, and not knowing of any independent Saab specific shops in Olympia or Tacoma (or anyplace to get a replacement pulley and belt), I called AAA and was towed to McCann Saab(/Hummer/Cadillac)'s beautiful new dealership in Fife. The tow truck got me there about 3:30 PM. I told the service advisor I was heading home to Portland and would appreciate if he could get the car fixed that afternoon. He did! I was back on the road at 4:50 PM, $200 later.
So it all turned out just fine. I am really pleased how quicky McCann Saab fixed my car and got me back on the road.
