Avoid 94 and 95 models as they had poor suspension. Yet, some were retrofitted with th newer suspension which made a big difference. All the rear main oil seals go on models from 94 through 96. The 97's and up had larger front brakes. Best manual gear boxes are in 98 because they had hydraulic clutches. If you buy a 97 or below check the clutch cable operation as they seem to brake often. Check the water pump, as they get older they seem to die. My car has been through 3 in 7 years and 95,000k miles. Supposedly, automatics in 94 were problem prone. The Turbo is the most fun. AVOID the V6, someone is always posting a 3,000+ repair on hose engines. The 2.3L is fun, economical, but not a turbo. Many 2.3L engines have failed due to sludge buildup. Your best bet, is to find a nice 900, with most or all records. After that get it chcked by a Certified Saab mechanic. It may cost 100 dollars but you will know what problems the car entails. Hope that helps.
