New Program On Remote

I have a 96 SET, which I bought about 3 years ago. It was bought from a friend and at the time of the sale, I got one remote for locking the doors and arming the security system. About six months later, I got a call from his wife who found another remote, which she gave to me. It needed a battery, so I placed it in the glove box and there is sat, until I read some of the horror stores about locked cars and no remote. I then went to the dealer and payed a bunch for a battery the size of an aspirin pill. Now the unit lights up, but will not open the car. I called wife and she said the remote may be from "her car." This is a couple who buys"His and Hers Cars." Now they have a pair of 9-3s.What I was wondering was whether I can make this remote work for my car, is there a way to program it or can the dealer do this? I called the dealer and their long time parts manager [a true Sage of Saab] was on vacation and his assistant, a new guy didn't have a clue. Is there anything I can do, or wait for the return of the "man ?"
