It's a great conversion. There are alot of carb V8 conversions out there with direct drive TH350s and TH400s but an LT1 with a 4L60E (94 Impala SS) really takes the car to late model Corvette performance. The neat thing about the Chev. V8 is that it's several hundred pounds lighter than the Jag V12, makes about 330 hp (up from 285), and moves the center of gravity back. It fit's nicely into the engine compartment and has much better off the line torque. The only downside is that it can be expensive. Mine was converted after the V12 overheated (previous owner) and a rebuild with new heads was quoted at $15k (the only guy willing to take the job). My G tech says 0-60 in 5.4 sec.
