dont know about the base models features, but they should be the same as the 94 900 SE coupe I have. On my driver's side door the key is inserted in the 9:00 position, locking all three doors without activating the alarm is accomplished by turning the key to the 12:00 position. There is a bit of a detent here and some resistance before turning the key further to the 3:00 position - which activates the deadbolt and the alarm, so you may have to wiggle the key a bit, especially if you dont use the deadbolt/alarm position often. May also want to squirt some lube in the lock mechanisim. Keep in mind, if you do turn on the alarm and find yourself using the key to get in the trunk first, you will set the alarm off, you must turn off the alarm first, THEN go in the trunk. I never use the stupid alarm anyway, who wnts to steal a 94 Saab, look at the theft rates...minimal.
