OK, not on the cable itself, but if I remember, the cable hooks to some kind of multiple lever spring loaded doodad, which has a pivot point or 2. When I cleaned the AIC and TB, I had the 3 in 1 oil out, so I hit just about everything that moved in that area.
I did all that for stalling problem (DI was culprit), not notchy pedal. But did notice the gas pedal was really smooth after cleaning. Had also considered taking apart the lower dash to put some oil on the pedal pivots themselves. They still squeak now, although I think the clutch is the big offender there.
The cable to the ECU looked pretty simple, I really doubt thats going to age, but may want to trace it to the sensor, and look at the connector and wires to the sensor.
Of course, for an older car, look at all wear item checks first (new TB hoses, plugs, techron, di, etc). No one will believe me, but I think the intake box mod smoothed out my acceleration the most (more torque low down).
