I just picked my car up today from the dealer. After my posts earlier, they said it was the Contact Ingition switch. Had to wait 2 days to get it, and then they installed it. A ~$450 job they said, but since they had just had my car in for service in early dec (and I was abroad mid-Dec to early Jan) they said they'd discount me to $350+tax. I then called in yesterday and asked if they could do an oil change while it was in a shop, and asked if it could be complimentary at all. They said no, cuz they'd already given me a "discount" (who knows!) but it'd be cheap....$18 or so. Of course, they went ahead and did the oil change before I approved, and I was screwed, but whatever, $18 and now my oil is done (I was at ~3250 miles since last oil change, so needed it!). I picked up my car this afternoon and, knock on wood, everything in running great.
While sitting in traffic though on my way home, I came across a minor issue....the "oil change sticker" in the windshield quotes my next oil change should be 5,000 miles from my current mileage. So does this mean that they put synthetic in??? I have a 1996 900S and it has never run on synthetic, and after hearing some of the "horror" stories of leaking after people switched to synthetic, I have decided not to do it. But have I just been screwed by the dealer, since they switched me to synthetic? And once you GO to synthetic, you can't go back, right? So now I'm screwed, eh?
Or could they have just put in regular oil, and put 5,000 miles as the next time, (a long time IMHO). I can't figure out how to tell what they put in either, it doesn't say anywhere.
Advice is GREATLY appreciated.
