Caster? Maybe camber is an issue.
The strut top mount location is fixed. The strut tube is welded to the steering knuckle. You can remove the strut assy, replace the mounts and shock insert and put it all back together and the alignment does not change. With a system where the strut body is the shock and is tossed to fit a new one, the camber can be wildly off after putting things together. And with that later arrangement, a bad pothole can make the bolted joint shift and that screws up the camber and toe-in.
So its not as evil as it seems. Does your vehicle pull to one side now?
When a vehicle pulls to one side, its not the camber that causes this, but cross camber. The difference between the caber angles on each side.
Sometimes the underframe can be shifted, or has been shifted by road forces. Moving that to one side makes camber more -ve on one side and more =ve on the other. So that is a good solution for cross camber... if there is enough bold diameter clearance.
The subframe is hot dip zinc galvanized. That anneals the steel and it is dead soft and can be easily deformed by sliding into a curb etc.
The control arms can be bent and need to be inspected for signs of damage if the numbers are bad.
A failing bushing at the chassis control arm points can make the numbers to bad.
