For those that are following the SPG transmission swap, progress was made in spite of the streak of hot days in the garage!

The trans is in the car, hooked up, fluids in, plumbing hooked up, but cannot get the starter subsystem to work. Thanks to Saabtech, I was able to hook up the correct wires to the starter, alternator, oil pressure, but still get a click and no joy. I swapped batteries, redid the grounds and still cannot get the key/starter going.

I tried briefly last night to jump terminal 50 to + and got sparks, nervous about trying to jump the car without anyone in it. Pullled out the starter and tested on the bench/floor this morning and it's good. Tried with my son pushing down the clutch and brake (just in case) and got the engine to turn over, but wouldn't start. I attached a spark plug tool/light and no spark thru the tool.

I had to pull the shift unit out earlier to fix the reverse keylock, including the key/switch, and reassembled it. The CD, sunroof, windows, lights, fog lights. etc. all work, so I know that I'm getting juice from the battery. Pulled the battery cables and charging up the battery overnight.

Any suggestions at this point? Anyone got some spare time and a second set of eyes to help out?

PS: Be extremely carefull jumping terminal 50! Make sure that the car is in neutral, ebrake on, wheel chocks, and someone in the car.
