Meeting came to order at 4 pm at the Four Provinces, in Falls Church, Va.
Present were:
Jim Miller, President, acting treasurer
Paul Immo, Vice President
Pat Quinlan, Secretary
Members:
Randy Rude
Frank Humm
Wei Huey, Tim (Tim, I appologize, your last name escapes me at the moment...)
and new member Reggie Perry (Reggie, welcome!)
Membership report:
With the addition of 5 new members, includeing Reggie, we now have 109 members of record.
Treasurer's report:
NOT including Reggie Perry's membership dues which he paid at the end of the meeting, we've had 4 other members join, one one-year, and three two-year memberships for a total of $110 incoming.
In expenses we had $52.88 in office supplies, $50 in renewing web hosting services.
Current balance: $3644.79
Old business, membership renewals were delayed due to work interfering with, well, getting club membership renewals out. (Lots of business related travel of late.) Renewals will be sent before the next meeting.
Club Webpage. User access and password has been obtained. Jim Miller has been in contect with Australian WASSAAB member, Steve Bunton to do work on revamping our page. (Steve is a graphic artist and has done our logo, worked on SCNA, SOC 2005, and other Saab related projects).
A motion was made to consider what to pay Steve for his services. Research is in progress for comparable fees.
In the mean time, Steve has told Jim Miller that he is more than willing to work up something.
New Business:
Jim Miller announced that he has resigned from the SCNA Board of Directors so that he can focus on WASSAAB, also, work travel is making it less and less conducive to being active in both at once. WASSAAB is the primary local club I have to focus on.
Carlisle: Carlisle is May 19 - 21, with a majority of the activity on Saturday the 20th. Those going up Friday are meeting at the Sheets gas station in Leesburg at 1 pm, then joining up with those Maryland members at the Harry Grove Stadium around 1:30 pm to continue to caravan up to Carlisle. Some members have indicated that they have missed the sign-up deadline for Carlisle, Jim Miller will contact the Central Penn club to make sure they are accounted for.
I NEED YOU TO TELL ME WHO YOU ARE AND WHEN YOU'RE COMING...
SOC 2006: For those of you who are not aware, this year's Saab Owner's Convention is at Lake George, NY at the Roaring Brook Resort. If interested, SIGN UP NOW.
Go to this link: http://www.saabconvention.org/default.html
This does not include the rooms. Go to here to book: http://www.roaringbrookranch.com/default.asp
Spring Events: Beyond Carlisle and SOC, we've got a couple of events being formed now. A Fun Run, perhaps two, are in the making, a follow up Dyno Day, tech sessions, etc.
Given that a DynoJet is scheduled to be at both Carlisle and at SOC, the majority was in favor of a Fun Run first. We're looking at the June time frame. Jim Miller has a route drafted, as well, new member Franklin Daniels indicated he would be willing to host a run (not present, but in contact with Jim Miller). Further, barbeque's, etc. could also be combined.
A LOT of interest was shown in suggesting participating in a Time/Distance/Speed road rally, several of which are scheduled this year through the local chapter of the SCCA.
Look to this bulletin board for partnering drivers, navigators and cars.
At about 5:10 we closed the meeting.
If I missed ANYTHING OR ANYBODY, please let me know (sparse notes, and I forgot to send around the table a roster sheet to sign...)
Jim Miller, President, WASSAAB
