Hello, I just had my 84' Turbo repainted. Crazy, considering the cost and the car's book value. None-the-less, I could not let it go knowing everything elso has been redone. It drives great! It cost $3200. and it looks incredable!!! It's a joy to own and drive. With the new paint,it looks like it should.
The answer your direct question about advise, I looked into many shops and the prices varied tremendouly, Shop around. Also, know the moldings all need to be replaced. They are difficult to reattach. So make sure you are clear on what you are getting for you $$. The new and fresh moldings make the car look it is just out of the showroom. My first reaction to the molding replacement was a concern, but they are from SAAB and were no conpromise to the cars original look and design.
I repainted the grill and light apertures myself.
Do it if you plan to keep the car for a few years!
Best of luck,
ED
