of the clay that causes damage. Clay is pretty neutral, chemically.
phred's probably talking about damage from picking up grit on an under-washed car and scratching the finish and damaging the finish by using clay without adequate lubrication. Those were hinted at on the website you posted.
(And I promise that I won't use the red GA clay from my back yard. [Awful stuff] :-)
