Carpet removal/cleaning 9-5

Has anybody removed their carpet and padding for cleaning. Can you remove sections or do you have to remove the entire carpet? If you did remove the entire carpets was there any problems with removing and then putting the seats back in? And after the carpet was put back in, was there a nice fit.
