There is a TON of info about car detailing on the web but most of it focuses on products instead of process and technique. This is a common trap newbies fall into as its easy to get all wrapped up in the huge variety of products. But if you don't know how to use them properly to get the results you want, even the best products will lead to mediocre results.

http://www.bettercarcare.com/ This is a great place to start. Excellent info presented in a logical and entertaining way. I'd read all the "how to" series on the left column, starting with the "Detailing How To Series" link. That will give you the basics (I'll bet everyone reading this could use some help even with something as simple as proper car washing technique). The best thing about the Better Car Care How To articles is that they give you suggestions for specific products to buy to accomplish a specific task. This helps cut thru about 90% of the product confusion.

http://www.properautocare.com/detailingtips.html Classic Motoring Access is of the most respected car care product suppliers in the entire hobby. They really know their stuff especially about product performance and design. The tips here will help with specific problems instead of offering a general education.

http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/detailing/3579628-1.html This is the Detailing Forum FAQ over at Roadfly.com. Not as involved as the sites above but more like advice from enthusiasts to enthusiasts. And no sales pitch either.

Read thru the links I provided and get a feel for what's involved. If you have more questions, feel free to ask. I'll help as much as I can.
