A few tips based on my experiences... Posted by MisplacedYankee [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Clay..., Jochen, Sat, 13 Mar 2004 10:32:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1) Do your best to get all tar etc off before the clay. Before I clay I use Dawn or a dishwashing soap to remove all wax.
2) Throw out the clay bar and get a new one if you drop it on the ground.
3) Use lots of lubricant (just something 1 part soap, 4 parts water) - i put it in a spray bottle for easy application.
4) Try it on the windshield -- got some deep down stuff off mine.
5) Don't rub too hard. Take your time, it will take a few hours for the whole car.
6) Periodically check the clay bar for any specs of tar caught in the clay. You will scratch the surface if you rub with anything in the clay.
You dont HAVE to polish before you wax, but you might want to so that you can best hide surface scratches and bring out a brilliant wet looking shine.
Good luck.
