If I were working on your car I'd try a number of different polishes to see which would be the best choice. It's hard to say exactly what would work but obviously we need to replace the big scratches with small scratches and that means a polish finer than Fine Cut.
I would suggest trying Meguiar's Medallion Paint Cleaner as a first step. Meguiar's recommends using #9 swirl mark remover after #2 Fine Cut cleaner but #9 doesn't have enough "kick" for hand work. Medallion Paint Cleaner is more aggressive than #9 and would be a better choice for hand polishing. Follow up with your glaze and wax and you'll be stylin'.
I know I've seen Medallion at Pep Boys and NAPA auto parts before but its kinda hard to find at retail. If you can't find it, send me an email and I'll try to help.
