Sounds like the P-car is coming along really nicely.
I put in that short-shift kit....a really great improvement....cleared up all the slop. You'll like it. It's just a little tighter going into gear with the new bushings and new synchros, but improving with miles.
I had some dough put aside for some SSI's and a performance muffler, but I just can't part with the money since there is nothing wrong with my heat exchangers and muffler at this point.....they were changed when I began the project about 2 years ago....they came from a garage queen that was totaled in a wreck. I got them dirt cheap and they only had about 12K on them. Many people have told me that the benefits of freeing up the exhaust system is one of the most worthwhile and noticeable changes you can make on these cars.
You might want to call John at APPBIZ.com regarding the carpeting issues. If you don't want to redye, his carpet replacements are reasonable bordering on downright cheap. I've bought some reproduction stuff from him. Not cheap or shoddily made, just reasonable and inexpensive.
Good luck,
Steve
