303 Aerospace is a water based protectant for rubber, vinyl, etc. It works great on interior components and things like tires and trim. Keep in mind it will wash off in rain and will streak if it gets a little bit wet. So its safe to use but certainly not durable.
303 makes convertible care products so I'm sure what that post was mentioned was a different product.
You can try an oil on your trim as an experiment; worth it just to see, I guess.
Mothers Back to Black, Stoner's Trim Shine, Black Again, Forever Black are a few other choices. Click on the link to see a few of them.
