wax and synthethic sealers (like aio) are just sitting on top of your paint, sealing in whatever is under it. If there is a problem on your hood, it is probably old AIO or old wax, or old cleaner. And you've just encased it, sealed it in nicely with a shiney top coat (I am just guessing, but I've done exactly the same thing).
You need to remove all the old junk. Using Maguire's fine cut polish. Do you have a random orbital buffer? It's meant for use with that. Hand use with this product could result in swirls. Better to find a fine cut (very fine abrasive) that is meant for hand use if you don't have a buffer. Then you have to get ALL of the polish off. I just did it using two buffer pads. Don't be alarmed at seeing black. It's a bit of paint, mostly oxidized, contaminants, but it is a very little bit of your paint, but getting those 'peaks' off will level out the paint again every so slightly, hiding swirls etc. as you go. Buff. put a clean pad on and buff again. Now look. Probably all the clouding is gone. Maybe replaced by buffing mottling, but that can just wipe to a mirror finish with a microfiber cloth. THEN and only then, put your favorite wax on (by the way AIO is an EXCELLENT choice!)
Hope that helps.
