At Pep-Boys, Auto Zone, etc, they sell vinyl repair kits. They work, but you'll never be able to match the the original 100%. The texture of the repair will differ from the original dash top. However, they make some very good vinyl paint products. I had a similar repair recently on a 911 project that I did this summer. It wasn't the dashtop, but it was another vinyl piece. I found some naugahyde type material at an automotive upholstory shop with a matching grain. On the advice of the owner, I painstakingly peeled off the fabric backing.....this was time consuming, but allowed the material to stretch in all directions, giving a good, tight fit. I took the old covering off, cleaned everything, and then attatched the new vinyl with 3M spray Trim Adhesive ($17 bucks a can!!!!!)....don't skimp at this point and buy the cheaper stuff. The car recently took 2nd place in the Chicago Porsche Club courcours event and the judges didn't even realize that this was not original. The other thing you could possibly try is to repair the crack with a vinyl repair kit from the auto parts store and sand the entire dashtop along with the repair. This way, the repair shouldn't be as noticeable. Then you could repaint the entire dashtop with a vinyl paint product. No matter what course you take, it's going to be somewhat time consuming in order to do a good job.
