The Old "Wax on Trim" dilemma

All,
I have been fighting the famous "wax on the trim" thing for a couple of months and just can't seem to get it right.
The last couple of times that I have waxed the car, I have used NXT and it makes the paint look really great, but I keep getting it on the trim. I have tried a lot of things to get it off, but nothing really works all that well.
My question is . . . how do you keep from getting the wax onto the trim? I have tried to be very careful a couple of times and that has just not worked. Is it worth taking an hour our so and using painting tape to protect the trim? What do the pros out there do or use to protect the trim?
Somebody help me out here. I am starting to worry that everytime I want to wax my car, it is going to take upwards of three hours (at least 1 1/2 hours to tape up properly).
If you have a less time consuming way to protect the trim and not get wax on it, I would really like to hear from everyone.
Thanks,
Clueless and Confused
