1993 Black on Black Aero..
I like to polish at least twice a year and wax monthly though the summer if possible. I like to work by hand and while I am careful, I tend to get a good smudge of paste on various plastic/vinyl trims around the car as I go along.
I finally gave in and picked up a bottle of 'Mother's - Back to Black' and applied to the trim as per directions.. To no noticeable effect after it was left to set and then buffed up as indicated.. Yet more snake oil I feared..
HOWEVER..
I then soaked a terry cloth applicator and continued to wipe on generous swipes, effectively using the fluid as a wash/float compound rather than a coating type application. I kept wiping until the trim colour returned to OEM - by which time I had buffed up all of the excess Mother's fluid. About 30 minutes a side and 15 front and back.
ZOUNDS!
Door handles and mirrors look like new and all other wax smudges around the hull are finally gone from all the trim (including that hoopy hood tape). I was then able to keep the great wax shine on the surrounding waxed areas by buffing up Mother's overage off with a flannel rag.
