Had a 99 Acura SLX detailed by a pro that had a ton of tree sap stuck to its dark blue metalic paint. The guy worked hard for 5 1/2 hours and I think he did bring the car up as good as it was going to be. My observations and comments:
1. He used AUTO GLYM products they seemed to be pretty good stuff but nothing could fix all the damage from the sap.
2. He said many people doing detail make the mistake of using clay then shik the step to polish--says this is a bad mistake.
3. for tree sap on the roof--this is an SUV and I don't think anyone EVER cleaned up there had to be taken off w/ mineral spirits, an Auto Glym cleaning product and a RAZOR blade what a PITA.
4. Its time for me to get a "real" random orbit polisher--mines a Walmart model. The Poilishing was the single most important step to make this car look good.
5. If you get tree sap on your car get it off fast--as Bret had pointed out it acts like a magnifying glass and etches the paint.
