If you are picky about how your paint looks...

- agree with starting with it detailed - wash, clay, polish should all be separate steps if the the finish is not in new condition currently. Consider asking for wax over a polymer base (e.g. Klasse All-in-one or Blackfire) for longevity then do additional wax coats every 3-6 months. Standard rec is to avoid automatic washes and liquid waxes that go on easily but also come off easily.

- even if you can't do a full wash and wax yourself, get some quick detailing solution + microfiber towels to quickly take off acid rain + bird droppings or other things that can etch the paint. Also, I find 303 Aerospace handy for cleaning non-leather surfaces and adding UV protection
