seeking advice: paint chips, light scratches Posted by bobc [Email] (#473) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bobc) on Thu, 9 Feb 2006 06:57:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
looking for advice on some final touches on a "new to me" 9000 aero. I am a pretty handy DIY guy (the greasy stuff) but I have never dabbled in body work or paint.
The car has a few paint chips on the hood, light scratches on the drivers door and one ding on the rear quarter. the only other problem is flaking clear coat on the rear spoiler.
from 10ft away the car looks perfect but I would like to bring the car back to "new condition", so looking for advice from the experts on how to address these.
Do you recomend taking the car to a body shop? a detailer? are they set up to make these sort of repairs (chips, dings, etc)? will paint color matching be an issue?
Roughly what can I expect to pay for this sort of work.
I might be able to handle the spoiler myself ... I though that painting it black would be something I could handle. Any recomendations on that? brand of paint? (I dont have equipment so I am limited to canned spray paint). or is that just a bad idea?
thanks very much
