here's how we did it. brother got a 900T 3 door with about half of the plastic tint already stripped off on the hatch. a real disaster. the tint shops wanted about $200 to take it off. I asked for a general idea, they said black plastic trash bags and windex. so I was standing next to the car with the bags and windex, looking stupid, and knowing there is more to this...
So I did the only thing a computer/saab nut could do - I did a google search. found many answers, several about the same, this is what we did.
1) you need a nice hot sunny day.
2) a couple of black plastic trash bags.
3) sissors or a knife.
4) windex.
First park the car so that you get maximum sun on the rear window, i.e. point it directly towards the path of the sun...
a) on the outside of the hatch, spray windex and clean the window.
b) on the outside of the hatch, spray windex to coat the window.
c) on the outside of the hatch, lay single layer of trashbag, cut to fit window.
d) remember - position car so that you get most direct sunshine.
e) set timer for one hour.
f) go have a beer, a soda, a sandwich, change the oil, detail something...
g) open the hatch and the tint should come off, it may leave a gummy residue.
h) i like using goop hand cleaner to get the gummy stuff off. *NOT* the gritty kind, the slimey kind. use a rag with some texture to it.
i) use windex to get rid of last part of goop.
j) repeat b to i until it's all gone.
we used a single edge razor to "pickup" the plastic around the rear window defroster but "DID NOT" use it on the lines, just between them.
Best to start around 11am, then you get the hotest part of the day, as well as two shots at it.
Brothers car was a mess, this really worked....
