I use the Victoria Wax Products array of materials.

There is a German tube polish made especially for chrome
that will help you keep the tip looking bright as it will not
allow stuff to stick as much if re-applied from time to
time. I've had a tube of this stuff (not from Victoria)
for many, many years. Not much chrome on cars these days
and some of the chrome that is there won't take many polishes
as it's mounted to plastic. For example, I'm replacing the
SAAB on the driver's side rear for $25 as it's peeling.
Chrome exhaust tips, however, deserve special treatment IMO as
they really pick up the end of the car nicely as an accent.
